The rumors have been flying around now for a while about new management at Wolf and it is now confirmed. Here’s the press release we received last week…
Wolf Ridge Ski Resort, one of Asheville and Madison County’s largest employers is now under new management. Peak Resorts LLC, is driven to convert Wolf into one of the premier resorts on the East coast offering year round activities with the highest level of customer service and satisfaction. “Customer service is #1 and everything in our business is aimed at providing an experience to our guests like no other. The first thing people need to know is Wolf Ridge is not just a ski resort anymore”, said Craig Perkins, principal owner of Peak Resorts LLC.
The NEW Wolf Ridge Resort plans to immediately start converting the resort into a year round destination. This includes enhancing the dining facilities by opening the new Mountaintop Grill. “Our food and beverage head is one of the best in the industry, focused on delivering a great meal at a reasonable price. We believe our customers will be incredibly satisfied with our dining experience”, Perkins added. Wolf plans on providing weekly seasonal entertainment at the Mountaintop Grill, as well as many other events throughout the year.
The New Wolf will have two separate terrain park areas ranging from beginner, intermediate to advanced, with the goal of being one of the best terrain parks in the region. Other changes include a lift-side grill, the expanded Breakaway slope, local Asheville busing options to and from the resort, fundraising promotions and more trails being open earlier in the season.
Wolf Ridge will now offer numerous spring, summer and fall activities such as camping, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking and more. The new Wolf management team has a very creative and ambitious business plan that encompasses multiple business units and is focused on giving back to the community. Perkins added, “Asheville is one of the most dynamic cities in the country. We are blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of the region’s growth and success. With all of our plans, a strong management team and a dedicated staff, there is no question it’s a very exciting time at the Wolf!!”
We are very excited about the new management at Wolf and wish the very best for them and the mountain. We have been in touch with the new management and will bring you more Wolf news as we have it.

I’ve said it again and again, but WOW what great conditions we had this weekend. The resorts have been able to handle the traffic as far as conditions go and you’ll find that most of the open resorts are reporting just about the same conditions as yesterday – except for Snowshoe. Showshoe has opened another 4 runs and 2 lifts. They now have 62 acres of open terrain, up from 51 just yesterday!

There are a number of activities coming up for this weekend that we will be updating you on this week. Just a taste to carry you through the day – Appalachian Ski Mountain in Blowing Rock, NC will be celebrating 52 years of skiing this coming weekend (December 7 & 8). Part of the weekend celebration is a roll back of lift tickets to the going rate in 1962 of $5 for the day session (9am-4pm).
On Saturday, Dec. 7th Appalachian Ski Mountain will also host the Burton Riglet Park Tour. This is a mini, mobile snowboard park geared towards introducing kids as early as 2 years old to the sport. Burton will also supply the demos so the kids get started in style. What a great experience, wish we had this when I was younger!
Looks like we can expect a mostly cloudy day as you head out to the slopes and a quick look at the area resort cams pretty much backs this up. The temps will be rising to the mid 40’s to low 50’s depending on your mountain of choice.

Take care out there today and enjoy the conditions will we still can!
