Winterplace Ski Resort invites families to hit the slopes for its 2nd Annual Family Fest with a weekend-long celebration on Saturday, January 21 through Sunday, January 22.
Families can enjoy a plethora of exciting events for all ages including a Mini Big Air freestyle competition at the resort’s Heaven Holler Terrain Park, family ski race, face painting, food trucks, tap takeovers and even a chance to dress up and take a ski lesson with a variety of history’s most beloved characters. Additionally, guests can enjoy live entertainment at the Snowdrift lounge featuring Nick Durm & Jason Lockart of Alabaster Boxer and Hannah & Her Empty Orchestra.
Families are welcome to come out and enjoy the resort whether they participate or not. Winterplace will be open for skiing, boarding and tubing from 9 a.m. through 9 p.m. all weekend long.
Helpful Weather Preparation Tips for Safety on the Slopes
As temperatures drop, ensuring your safety on the slopes is the resort’s priority. With the upcoming cold weekend forecast, here are some essential tips to prevent frostbite and make the most of your time at our resort. Stay warm and ski smart!
- Dressing adequately is the first step in preventing any level of frostbite. Layer your clothing and use a fabric that can wick moisture as the innermost layer.
- Take breaks and get out of the cold every once in a while.
- If your clothes are wet and cold, you should put on dry clothes immediately.
- Remove any clothing and jewelry that is restrictive and make sure the blood gets flowing properly throughout your body.
- Stay hydrated!

Mini Big Air Freestyle Contest at Heaven Holler Park
Winterplace is hosting a Mini Big Air Freestyle Contest at the new Heaven Holler Terrain Park for shredders up to 12 years old. The contest will consist of three runs per participant and be crowd judged. The top three boys and girls will be awarded with some cool resort prizes. Everyone is invited to join in on the fun or come out to watch.

Rematch of the Family Race at Winterplace. These races will consist of teams of one parent and one child under the age of 12. Both members of your team will get two runs. We will keep the time of your best runs combined. Family Races take place on the Panorma/Glades Trail.
