What a beautiful November weekend we had this weekend.
I think Ma Nature is recovering a bit as it is a gloomy morning, but we will take a gloomy Monday for a beautiful weekend.
Four resorts – App Ski Mountain, Bryce, Cataloochee, and Sugar Mountain – played hard this weekend, and we have more set to join the fun later this week.
This morning, we are back to three open resorts as Bryce is planning on opening on Saturday and Sundays for the rest of November – with the addition of Black Friday.
The resorts operating today are:
Appalachian Ski Mountain – Almost identical conditions as yesterday as they are playing on a 30-40” base with eight slopes and three lifts open. Appal Jack and Appal Jam are also open.
Cataloochee – Five slopes open with two lifts on a groomed service. There have a 24-40” base.
Sugar Mountain – Open for both day and night sessions with a 20-34” base. They have seven slopes and three lifts operating.
Across the region, conditions aren’t allowing for snowmaking this morning. Temps will be borderline for snowmaking at night this week, but certainly isn’t out of the question, and there is a slight chance (20%) of snow (as well as some rain) tomorrow and tomorrow night.
Social Shares
There were a ton of great social media content shared from the resorts this weekend.
This video from Bryce showed the scene from their opening weekend where both winter sport and mountain biking were open for operation.
App Ski Mountain showed off the sweet early season conditions on Saturday with a drone video.
Cataloochee had great conditions when they reopened on Saturday. Check out this shot from over the weekend.
Over on our Facebook page (if you don’t follow us, it would mean a lot if you did), Jason Vioral was at App Ski Mountain on Friday and shared these shots.
Last but not least, messageboard user Meimei shared this shot from Bryce Resort on Saturday.
