Wednesday Bringing A Little Bit Of Everything Weather Wise

It is a mixed-bag kind of morning.

Ma Nature is all over the board this morning as she is throwing rain – which has been heavy at times – snow, freezing rain, and even sleet depending on where you are at this morning.

The southern resorts are seeing mostly rain (with some patches of freezing rain mixed in earlier), while the northern resorts are seeing a little bit of everything above.

We are seeing some all snow at Canaan Valley and Timberline. David Lesher noted that it switched over to snow quickly at 7:25 this morning and they already had nearly an inch by 8a.

Pretty wild stuff.

As a note for those looking at the Snow Reports page, that 0.7″ of snow won’t be reflected this morning as it came after the 24-hour report was issued.

If the mixed bag of weather wasn’t enough, the southern resorts will also deal with some serious wind. Ober Mountain could see gusts up to 80 mph while the North Carolina resorts could see gusts up to 55 mph.

That is some strong wind.

As you can tell, a lot is going on with the weather so if you are making turns, it is important to be weather-aware today and dress appropriately.

For the latest slope conditions, be sure to visit the Snow Reports page.

Conditions on Tuesday look absolutely fantastic and some of the feedback we received echoed that statement.

Our buddy Bill Nabers checked in from Bryce last night and said things were pretty status quo which equaled fun on the mountain.

He also sent the below photo and conditions look great.

For all things considered, conditions are looking pretty good this morning, and the mountain op crews have worked their magic.

With the forecast, we could see some lift operations impacted due to freezing rain and wind.

It won’t be a complete washout today, but winter returns late tonight and tomorrow as the northwest flow will kick up after the system passes.

It isn’t going to be a massive event, but 2-5″ is looking possible for a lot of locations.

That will be a great refresh heading to the weekend after a weird, wacky weather Wednesday.
