Today’s featured image is from Timberline Mountain over the weekend. The improved snowmaking capability is really showing off at the West Virginia resort.
It’s cold outside this morning, and I am loving it.
Temperatures are 20 degrees cooler – more in a few locations – this morning and that has brought a manmade blizzard upon the mountains.
The mountain operation crews are hard at it this morning nearly areawide as nearly resort has cranked up snowmaking operations, and the result has been pretty fantastic.
It is hard not to get excited when you take a look around the resorts this morning.
Take a look at some of the posts from social media from the resorts.
There are still two resorts open for play today, but we are getting closer to adding to the mix.
Cataloochee is playing on four slopes with two lifts in operation. They reported a 10-17″ base with groomed conditions.
Sugar Mountain has opened the magic carpet area as they are now reporting two lifts and five slopes open.
They are reporting a 10-40″ base with a manmade and frozen granular surface.
Sugar is hoping to have ice skating open on Wednesday, Nov. 24.
On Wednesday, Snowshoe will open for a season pass holder and employee appreciation day and is now set to open to the public on Thanksgiving. Beech Mountain will be slightly behind them with rope drop set for Friday.
As I mentioned yesterday, I fully expect to hear some more opening dates this week – especially with this nice little snowmaking window we are in.
That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
