Man, I hate coming in and having to do the reports on mornings like this. I was out at Beech last night, and it was probably one of the best night sessions I’ve gotten in this year. I was pretty stoked on how last night went. Then, I wake up this morning to come into work and it’s underdeveloped snowing outside. Terrible. I wasn’t surprised though because I knew it was going to happen, but it still stinks.

Like I said, last night at Beech was pretty awesome. I was itchin to ride after watching the cams yesterday and seeing how nice things looked not just at Beech, but everywhere in the region. It was nice to finally have a night of riding with no blowers, great visibility, and good snow. I was able to comfortably straight-line runs. I love Robbins, but I think Shawneehaw was actually more fun last night. I love hitting rollers on Upper and then tucking it and going as fast as possible through the junction of Upper and Lower Shawneehaw.

I used my phone to track one of my last runs and it’s pretty cool to see the stats. I’m pretty sure the elevation info was off but it did say I got up to 46 mph and that the run was .75 miles. If you have an Android smartphone you should download the MyTracks app. It’s pretty neat. You can view your runs on Google Maps or even import them into Google Earth. Technology is awesome. It’s also yet another reason why Android is better. Yup, I’m an Apple hater. You can check out the map of my run by CLICKING HERE.

I was riding the lift last night and this one random guy started to talk to me on one of my rides back up the mountain. He was a nice fellow and he started asking if I lived up here and where I work and what not. When I told him I work for Appnet and then told him that I do webcam stuff, his exact words were “I love High Country Web Cams!”. It’s pretty cool to run into someone who frequents the site and is such a big fan. It sounds kind of cheesy, but it definitely makes you feel good about your job when something like that happens.

Anyways, back to what’s going to happen over the next few days. Today looks wet for the most part. Things might dry out by the afternoon though. I think I’m actually going to try and head to App tonight if the weather isn’t too bad. Tomorrow looks to be pretty good once again as sunshine returns. Another bluebird day. It looks like we will see snow over the weekend, but how much is the big question. A low is going to track across the Southeast and which path it takes will determine how much snow we see at the ski areas. Cross your fingers!  The Weather Channel had some nice images showing the three different scenarios for the weekend.  Check out those images below.
