November – it was nice to meet you.
The last day of November looks to be another great day to hit the slopes at the open resorts before we turn the calendar to December tomorrow.
Today’s featured image is from Beech Mountain over the weekend. It was a bluebird day alert on both Saturday and Sunday.
November – especially the last part of the month – always feels like an appetizer for the season, but December always feels like the season is in full stride by the middle of the month.
Don’t look now, but Christmas is in 25 days. It seems like time has been flying.
On this last day of November, we have five open resorts open and conditions should be a lot of fun. I thought Snowshoe described it best by describing the snow today as “soft-but-not-too-soft” surface conditions.
For full details, be sure to check out the Snow Reports page.
A couple of notables from this morning:
- Snowmaking continued for most of the overnight but has been turned off in a few locations this morning. It was great to see the resorts get the chance to refresh the slopes.
- Speaking of snow (that is what we kind of do here), Canaan, Timberline, and Wisp picked up a little natural snow overnight. Canaan and Timberline received around an inch of fresh natural snow, while Wisp received just under half an inch.
- Of the open resorts, most were able to add an inch or two to their base numbers.
- Of the five resorts open, trail counts for the most part stayed the same. Sugar Mountain added one trail to the mix today, and Snowshoe is working on closed terrain and teased that Spruce could be open by tomorrow.
Resorts mayyy have a small snowmaking window tonight as we move into a bit of a milder pattern to end the week. However, it does look like we may have a cool down to start next week.
Brad will be sharing his latest Skier’s Forecast in the coming days so be sure to be on the lookout for that.
Social Shares
The resorts are always posting great content on social media and here are a few posts that caught my eye over the last 24 hours or so.
That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
