It is going to be a bluebird day to kickoff the week.
When you take a quick stroll over on Resortcams, you can’t help but notice what a beautiful morning it is and that really sets the stage for a pleasant Monday.
Several resorts were able to crank up snowmaking operations last night for a quick refresh after a beautiful Sunday on the slopes, and conditions continue to look pretty solid.
All in all, today is going to be a fantastic day to be on the slopes.
We have lifts spinning at six resorts today. A quick look at conditions at each:
App Ski Mountain – Riding on seven trails with five lifts turning. They are reporting a 15-38″ base with a groomed surface.
Beech Mountain – Beech is playing on a 20-32″ base with a groomed surface. They are offering nine trails and four lifts for play today.
Cataloochee – Cat has four lifts servicing seven trails for Monday, and they are reporting a groomed surface atop a 22-26″ base.
Snowshoe Mountain – The ‘Shoe has 64 acres of open terrain with 20 trails and five lifts open today. They are reporting a 30″ base with a groomed surface.
Sugar Mountain – Sugar has eight slopes serviced by four lifts for Monday. They have a 22-62″ base with a manmade and frozen granular surface.
Wisp Resort – The Maryland resort has a groomed and variable surface with a 15″ base this morning. They are playing on four trails and three lifts.
You can view the complete report over at the Snow Reports page, but here are a couple of additional quick notes.
- Snowshoe has teased the opening of more terrain this week in addition to the opening of Silver Creek on Friday.
- Timberline Mountain has suspended operations this week to conserve snow during what is expected to be a warm week.
- Bryce Resort remains on its weekend-only schedule for at least one more weekend.
- Massanutten and Wintergreen had great kickoff weekends, and both will resume operations this upcoming weekend (weather permitting).
- App Ski Mountain, Beech Mountain, Cataloochee, and Sugar Mountain are all offering night skiing right now.
As Timberline alluded, it is going to be a milder week as we approach the holidays. However, the resorts – especially those open – have a lot of snow to play on with as we near one of the busiest weeks of the year.
The long-range forecast shows some snowmaking windows over the weekend so we will keep the #ThinkCold flow going.
That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
