It is starting to feel more like January outside.

The pattern flip has brought more seasonal temperatures to the mountain, and snowmaking at several resorts has returned with it.

As a cherry on top, we saw some light natural snow at the northern resorts.

Canaan Valley and Timberline received just under an inch of natural snow overnight, while Snowshoe and Wisp were in the half-inch range. Wisp is still seeing some snow showers this morning.

Pretty good start to the weekend.

Snowmaking did return, but unfortunately, it wasn’t across the board as conditions were right on the edge in some places.

However, the resorts will get another window tonight, and hopefully, more can take advantage.

For the resorts that were able to crank up snowmaking operations, the refresh is quite nice, and conditions are looking fantastic this morning – especially for those early morning turns.

Brad shared his latest skier’s forecast overnight for this weekend.

Next weekend certainly has our attention.

This weekend, however, is looking pretty fantastic across the board as well. For the full report, be sure to visit the Snow Reports page.

Here are some notable items as we head into the weekend.

  • Snowmaking will continue as long as conditions allow – and this will include on open terrain – so don’t forget your goggles.
  • Snowshoe and DAKINE are hosting a scavenger hunt this morning with some new DAKINE gear. Keep an eye on Snowshoe’s Facebook page and their story for clues on where they are hiding the gear.
  • Timberline Mountain is hosting College Weekend this weekend. College students who show a valid college ID at the ticket window will receive special lift ticket prices.
  • Today is Hero’s Day at Wisp Resort. Be sure to check out their site for details and special offers.

Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

Ober Mountain had a staffer capture a proposal on their ice skating rink on Thursday.

Congratulations to Sydnee and Logan!

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
