Winter, when the Allegheny Mountains are blanketed in white, is the perfect time to embark on snowy getaway to The Omni Homestead Resort. With skiing, snowboarding, tubing, mini snowmobiles, ice skating and a host of other activities, there are lots of ways to enjoy the winter season.
Snow Sports
As the birthplace of southern skiing, The Omni Homestead boasts ten trails with a variety of challenges for every level of skier or snowboarder. Kids ages 6-12 can race around the track on a mini snowmobile while kids of all ages can enjoy tubing at our Penguin Slides Tubing Park.
Equestrian Center
Our stables house approximately 30 horses for trail rides and carriage rides. Ride a trail through the wooded forest. Breathe the clean mountain air. Soak up the beauty of the Alleghenies and come away refreshed.
Shooting Club
With a history dating back to 1933, our historic gun club hosted the first-ever U.S. Open Sporting Clays Championship in 1992. Certified N.S.C.A shooting instructors are ready to enhance your experience at the resort by providing guidance along our world-famous sporting clays courses. Take an adventure through almost a mile of wooded courses that simulate many types of game birds and rabbits. Best of all, we will outfit you with guns, ammo, targets and vests as well as eye and ear protection for your safety and comfort. The Shooting Club offers four skeet fields, two sporting clays courses (weather permitting), trap and five-stand courses and a rifle range.
Outdoor Activities
Surrounded by the Allegheny Mountains, our resort setting creates the perfect environment for outdoor pursuits every family member can enjoy from archery to mountain biking.
Archery
Ten stationary targets are set at varying distances for adults and children and a wide selection of bows accommodate right- and left-handed archers, both adult and youth.
Cascades Gorge Hike
On this intermediate level hike, you’ll be led and entertained by a naturalist through a series of beautiful waterfalls alongside a deep, Allegheny Mountain gorge trail. Learn about regional and unusual flora and fauna in this semi-tropical environment and the medicinal and edible properties of the many local plants. It’s a 3.5-mile journey and one of the most beautiful in the region.
Miniature Golf
The 18-hole Mini Cascades Miniature Golf Course is ideal for families.
The Homestead S’mores Express
Take a wagon ride through our beautiful resort and then enjoy making and eating s’mores at the Mountain Lodge for an evening of family fun.
Mountain Biking/Hiking
Take advantage of the miles of trails located at the resort and dozens more with a short drive. Mountain bike rentals are available at Allegheny Outfitters.
