Winter is arriving early at Ober Mountain Ski Area and Adventure Park thanks to a new investment in snowmaking technology. On Saturday, November 2, Ober will open the Snow Tubing Park and the Family Snow Zone play area. Ober plans to open some of the ski slopes on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, November 23.

The Snow Crew is currently making snow in the tubing area, Family Snow Zone, and Cub Way and Castle Run ski slopes. With the addition of new Latitude 90 snowmaking machines to the existing snow making system, Ober has the capability of making snow at temperatures as warm as 70 degrees. The energy efficient technology produces fresh, dry snow inside an enclosed, independent system that withstands weather conditions that are adverse to snowmaking. The new technology expands Ober’s snowmaking capacity and ability to extend the ski season.

The Snow Tubing Hill is 350 feet long with a thrilling 50-foot drop. Once at the bottom, tubers are conveyed back to the top of the hill on the Magic Carpet. The Family Snow Zone is a perfect area for kids and adults of all ages to play in the snow. Snow Tubing is very popular on weekends and holidays. Visitors are encouraged to reserve a tubing session online well in advance of their trip. On limited, specific dates, weekday ticket holders can enjoy unlimited tubing sessions. Children ages 3 and 4 years old are free and must be accompanied by a paying adult. Families are welcome to play together in the Family Snow Zone.
