Another Thursday has arrived and there’s really not too much to talk about this morning in terms of the ski resorts. The wintry mix and all that junk of the last few days is done with and the ski areas will be able to lay down some (more) manmade snow today and tomorrow in preparation for the always important MLK holiday weekend. There’s even a little bit of sunshine peaking through at a few of the resorts this AM. It’s nice to see after a week of gloominess, even if it won’t last all day.
In general, all of the resorts looks really, really good on the cams. Vacationers, or weekend warriors like myself, will be in for a treat this weekend if you are willing to brave the crowds. And there will be crowds. So prepare yourself. MLK weekend is almost always the busiest or second busiest weekend of the season, and with the stellar snow conditions we have right now I’m sure everyone will be flocking to the mountains. I plan on doing some hotlaps Saturday morning at Beech and then heading to the top to have some beers once the crowds arrive. That, and I’ll be chowing down on a bacon and cheese waffle sandwich from Bald Guy Brew. SO GOOD.
If you are headed to the mountains this weekend, here’s a quick little weather forecast for you. It’s going to be GOOD. There’s even a little bit of snow possible for some resorts Sunday night, which will make for a nice end to your trip on Monday morning. The ski area managers have got to be loving this. I know there’s been some years where it was rainy on this weekend and I felt bad for people who had their once a year trips planned. Not this year though. We’re going to hit it good for the most part with lots of open terrain and plenty of snow.
Remember to head on over to the snow report page for a detailed look at current conditions at all of the resorts (they’re good) and as always, Resort Cams has live views from just about every one. I did some work on there last night to speed up the site, so it’s running a little quicker now too. That site is my baby.
Until tomorrow…
