Massanutten is celebrating 50 years of memories this upcoming season.
The Virginia resort is going to party in style with giveaways, 50th promotions, 50th-anniversary events, a Hall of Fame dinner, and more.
As they prepare for the celebration, the Massanutten team has unveiled several improvements and additions.
The biggest change is the addition of RFID gates that will provide direct lift access to guests. That will eliminate the need to go to the ticket windows and the gates will allow access to the lifts based on ticket type and time of day.
In addition, Massanutten will feature an expanded beginner terrain this season.
The resort is replacing the J-Bar, which was the last original lift, with a 650′ Sunkid conveyor lift. As a result, the beginner area will be graded for the new lift in addition to snowmaking and lighting improvements.
As a result of the expanded beginner territory, Massanutten will continue to move terrain features around the mountain like they did last season.
Massanutten is also adding 50 new semi-automatic HKD low-energy air-water snowmakers, four new tower-mounted Techno Alpin fan-style snowmakers, and two new snowmaking pumps.
The resort has also added three permanent restrooms to the Mid Mountain Grill area and also work on the exterior of the lodge.
The best part? The resort will continue to announce new improvements and expansions in the coming weeks.
