Happy New Year from our family to yours!

I hope you had a safe and fun night to turn the calendar to 2021 after a strange 2020.

Today’s featured image is from Kenny’s trip to Canaan Valley earlier this week. If you haven’t had the chance, be sure to check out his trip report (which can be found here).

The last week of 2020 was an extremely busy one at the resorts, but the crowds will lessen a bit as we roll into the new year.

It is still going to be important to plan ahead as you plan out your trips to the mountains over the coming months – especially for weekends.

Unfortunately, 2021 is going to start on the wet side with mild temperatures for the North Carolina resorts along with Ober Gatlinburg.

It is still going to be mild for the northern resorts as well, but they will see a mixed bag of precipitation – including a little bit of snow but with no real accumulation – before changing to all rain later today.

It isn’t going to be a total washout either which is great and conditions will still be a lot of fun even with a bit of wet snow.

For the latest conditions from the resorts, be sure to visit the Snow Reports page.

The warming trend continues into the weekend, but cooler air returns on Sunday. We could even see some light natural snow Sunday night.

All-in-all, things will be back on the cooler side with snowmaking windows next week.

A couple of posts caught my attention yesterday afternoon. Ober Gatlinburg had a fantastic start to their season and conditions continue to look fantastic for the Tennessee resort.

It has been great to see Timberline back in action with fantastic conditions.

Be on the lookout for more content throughout the day and weekend from Kenny and Mike’s adventures at Snowshoe this week.

That does it for me today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
