Fall is here. Well, except no one told Mother Nature.

Monday marked the official arrival of fall which is a special time in our mountain communities, especially October. Leaves begin to change; temps begin to fall and we start looking for snow.

This year, however, is looking a little odd as we are wrapping up a hot September. There doesn’t seem to be a major cool down for the next week or so.

Brutal.

However, we hope that the heat will start to fade away as we get closer to the start of the 2019-20 season. For those counting, we are only 59 days away from some resort openings (Mother Nature permitting).

We will be amping up here at Ski Southeast over the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye out for fall color outlooks and updates, notes about all the local events and of course updates on your favorite ski areas in the Ski Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.

It is going to be an epic year.

Cataloochee’s New Building

One of the more popular questions we have received the last few weeks has been what is Cataloochee up to? The base camera at Resortcams.com shows new construction on a building when the camera pans to the left.

Mike got on the case and found out that they are moving a bulk of their rentals to that building to help give them some more space in their lodge.
