We definitely ended the week strong.
Wednesday night’s refreshing shot of cold air really set the stage for the end of the week and this weekend as conditions are looking great this morning.
Today (and every day) is a big #ThankASnowmaker day as the slopes have been refreshed quite nicely. Some resorts were able to have around-the-clock snowmaking since Wednesday night, and most will continue as long as conditions allow.
We will have eight resorts open for skiing and riding for today and the weekend as Bryce, Timberline, and Wolf Ridge is set to resume operations.
Massanutten was originally slated to reopen for the weekend as well, but the weather didn’t cooperate. The ‘Nut, however, will open as soon as possible.

Here is a quick snapshot of where we stand entering the weekend.

If you are headed to App this weekend, be sure to check out their site and see if you can get one of the Family Weekend tickets for $10. Advanced reservations are required.

If you are going to be in the Maggie Valley area this weekend, be sure to check out the Cat Yard Sale at the ski area.
Snowshoe Mountain – Snowshoe is offering 60 acres of fun with 16 trails and three lifts available today. They are playing with groomed conditions and a 65″ base.
While snowmaking continues on open terrain, the ‘Shoe did tease operations have also moved to new terrain.
Sugar Mountain – Sugar is also offering night sessions, and is cruising on a 23-53″ base. They are offering eight trails and four lifts for Friday with a manmade and frozen granular surface.
Timberline Mountain – Timberline is also picking things back up today and this weekend. They are playing on a 2-15″ base with groomed conditions.
For the weekend, they are offering 11 trails with one lift spinning.
Wisp Resort – The Maryland resort is also holding steady with eight trails and four lifts. They are playing on a 24″ base with groomed and frozen granular.
Wolf Ridge – The Wolf has resumed operations after suspending things this week. They are playing on Eagle, Broadway, and the Bunny Hill today for a total of three open slopes with one lift.
They are reporting a 24-46″ base with a groomed surface.
Conditions look pretty fantastic when I did my tour this morning over on Resortcams – especially for those lucky enough to make some early runs.
The weather will cooperate for most of the day even though it will be grayish.
Some underdeveloped snow will move into the area tonight and perhaps into the morning, but the amounts are looking lighter than what we saw earlier this week.
Overall, the weekend is looking pretty nice for those looking to take advantage.
That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
