Canaan Valley’s reopening plan for summer activities

Canaan Valley is in the process of opening up for the summer season.

On their website, the West Virginia State Park detailed the latest changes for the summer due to COVID-19.

From their website:

As our state, nation, and the world continue to adapt to the changing realities in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is our goal to regularly, consistently share changes that may affect your current or future plans to visit us at Canaan Valley Resort.

Campground
Canaan Valley Resort Campground is open. During Week 4 of West Virginia’s reopening plan our campground will be limited to reservations from in-state guests only, from May 21 to June 4.

To mitigate potential spread of the virus, only registered guests will be allowed in the campground.

Campgrounds at all state parks are adopting more stringent cleaning, sanitizing procedures and social distancing measures to prepare for the reopening.

Resorts, Lodges and Cabins
All other accommodations are open at Canaan Valley Resort, including the resort lodge, cabins and cottages.

From May 26 to June 4, reservations will be limited to in-state residents only.

Amenities
Restrooms will be deep-cleaned daily. High-traffic surfaces, including stall doors, toilet handles, sink handles and restroom doors will receive frequent disinfection throughout the day.

Campground/Recreation Center store is open for guests use and convenience.

The Hickory Dining Room and Laurel Lounge will reopen May 26th for dinner, 5-9PM. Beginning May 27th, the hours for the Hickory Dining Room will be as follows: Breakfast 8AM-11AM, Lunch 11AM-2PM, Dinner 5PM-9PM. The Laurel Lounge will be open 5PM-10PM daily.

Outdoor Recreation
In accordance with the Governor’s Guidance for Outdoor Recreation Outfitters, Canaan Resort remains open for outdoor recreation activities.

Clay & Archery Shooting Range is open.

Equipment rentals for park activities are open. All rented equipment will be properly cleaned and disinfected prior to use, per the guidelines.

Canaan Resort Golf Course is open.

Bike Rentals & Mini Golf are open.

Guests are required to practice proper social distancing along shared trails and scenic overlooks.

Day-use areas, including hiking and biking trails and fishing lakes, remain open for public use.

Visitors are reminded to Leave No Trace by cleaning up their trash, waste and belongings before leaving our park.
