The first weekend of the 2022-23 season certainly delivered, and that trend continues for your Monday.
After some really good skiing and an incredible snowmaking window over the weekend, conditions at the three open resorts look fantastic to kick off Thanksgiving week.
The best part? More resort openings are on the way.
For your Monday, App Ski Mountain, Cataloochee, and Sugar Mountain are spinning the lifts for you to get some turns in.
Here is a quick look at the conditions for each:
App Ski is playing on a 32-64″ base with seven slopes open and four lifts in operation. They will feature groomed conditions, and have six features set up on AppalJack.
Cataloochee is open to the top as they are riding on 11 trails with four lifts in operation. The last report was an 18-23″ base, but I imagine that is a low estimate as that hasn’t been updated since Thursday.
Sugar Mountain is playing on a 28-62″ base with a manmade and frozen granular surface. They are riding on eight trails with four lifts spinning.
All of the open resorts were able to make snow overnight so the slopes will be nice and refreshed – especially for those fortunate enough to make some turns this morning.
As I mentioned, we will see more resorts kick off their seasons this week as Beech Mountain and Snowshoe will drop the ropes on the year, while Timberline will feature a couple of preview days this week.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see another opening announcement or two in the coming days.
Nearly every resort in the region was able to take advantage of the colder weather last night to make snow.
There is a bit of a warming trend on the horizon, but there still looks to be a few snowmaking windows this week if resorts choose to partake.
We will look at that throughout the week as the holiday weekend forecast comes more into view.
That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
